Holiday Baking Competition 

2017 Theme: BEST HOLIDAY COOKIE!

This year the holiday bake-off will determine the best holiday cookie in Clinton. The competition is simple; register for the competition, bake 2 dozen of your favorite holiday cookies, bring them to Clinton Parks and Recreation on the submission date to be judged by our panel. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 bakers, top recipes will be shared online. 

Submission Date: December 13th, 2017  *all that want to participate MUST register with the Clinton Parks and Recreation Department. Cookies must be dropped off at Clinton Parks and Recreation, 560 High Street. 

Submission Time: 9:00am-3:00pm

Cost: FREE

Rules:

  • Register for the competition either using the paper form below, or our online system. 
  • Submit 2 dozen cookies to the Clinton Parks and Recreation Department on December 13th. Cookies should be submitted in disposable containers with the bakers name on it. On a separate sheet of paper please include your recipe. Entries must be legible and include a phone number or they will be disqualified.
    • Optional: include a family photograph or story that goes with your recipe.
  • Directions for preparing the recipe must be clear; measurements should be in level cups, tablespoons, teaspoons or fractions thereof; also include pan size, cooking temperature, number of servings and any other pertinent information.
  • Use ingredients that are readily available in grocery stores.
  • Contestants may submit more than one recipe, but only one entry per participant can win.
  • No team entries, this contest is for individual competition.
  • Entries may be brought in any type of container (preferably disposable); it is not the responsibility of Clinton Parks and Recreation to return any dishes.
  • Entries must be prepared at home and brought to Clinton Parks and Recreation on the day and time of the contest.
  • Entries will be received from 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. at the Clinton Parks and Recreation Dept. 560 High St., Clinton, MA.

Judging:

Judging will take place on December 13th by a panel put together by the Clinton Parks and Recreation Department. 

1st PlaceCameron’s Red Velvet Cool Whip Cookies!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Box of Red Velvet Cake Mix
  •  1 cup of white chocolate chips
  •  1 tub of cool whip
  • 1 egg
  • powdered sugar

Directions:

  • Mix all ingredients
  • Drop spoonfuls into powdered sugar
  • Bake at 350° for 12 minutes
  • Cool before removing off baking sheet
  • Eat and enjoy!

2nd PlaceMary’s Cake Mix Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients: 

  • 1 box of white cake mix
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • 1/2 cup of oil
  • 3/4 cup of chocolate chips (extra to press on top)
  • 1/2 cup of red, white and green sprinkles (food coloring optional)

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • Combine cake mix, egg whites, flour and oil. Mix well.
  • Add in 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • Roll the cookie dough into 1-2 inch size balls and place 2- 3 inches apart on your baking sheet
  • Gently press down on top of the cookie dough balls and place a few extra chips on
  • Place in the oven and bake 8 to 10 minutes

3rd PlaceJosie’s Chocolate Surprise Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, divided
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 (9oz) package chewy caramels in milk chocolate

Directions:

  • Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add sugars, beating well. Add eggs, beating well.
  • Combine flour, cocoa and soda; add to butter mixture, mixing well. Stir in vanilla and 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Cover cookie dough and refrigerate 1 hour.
  • Combine remaining 1/2 cup pecans and 1 tablespoon sugar; set aside. 
  • Gently press 1 tablespoon cookie dough around each candy, forming a ball.
  • Dip 1 side of cookie in pecan mixture.
  • Place pecan side up, 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. 
  • Bake at 375° for 8 minutes. ( Cookies will look soft)
  • Let cool 1 minute on baking sheets; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
