DCR State Swimming Pool

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) oversees the Philip Weihn Memorial Swimming Pool in Clinton. The pool is located next to Clinton Middle School at 100 West Boylston Street, Clinton, MA 01510.

Pool Facts:

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Showers are required before entering the pools
  • Swimming pools have a water depth of at least two feet
  • Admission is free at DCR managed pools
  • All pool staff is hired by DCR staff
  • The pool is open each summer late June – late August. The 2013 opening and closing dates are June 27th – August 21st.

Swimming Lessons:

The pool manager will host a lesson registration night each year at the beginning of June for those interested in signing up for swim lessons. Facts about swim lessons are listed below:

  •  1st Swim Lesson Registration Night is June 24th & 25th, 2013  from 5:00 – 8:00 pm (no one allowed to line up prior to 4:30 pm)
  • 2nd Swim Lesson Registration Night is July 15th & 16th from 5:00 – 8:00pm.  Those that had lessons during the first session must wait to register until Tuesday night. Those that did not have lessons during the first session may register on Monday night.
  • Ages 3 yrs.+ may sign up for lessons
  • Lesson sessions are 3 weeks in length – the first 2013 session will run July 1st – 19th, and the second session from July 22 – August 9th
  • All lessons are free and scheduled on a first come, first serve basis at the registration night
  • During the second session of lessons there will be a “Mommy & Me” session for children ages 6 months – 3 yrs.
  • Lessons are scheduled between 9:00 – 1:00 pm during the week.
  • Each lesson is a half hour in length
  • The pool has about 300 lessons spots available each session

Water Aerobics will be offered from 6:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday’s and Friday’s. These are separate classes from the swim lessons.

Out of town residents may register for swim lessons as well.

There is a $2 charge for a Waddles Red Cross book at the end, if you want one.

Open swim, 1 to 7 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday
Open Swim, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

July 8th to Aug. 20th:

Monday to Friday
Adult Swim, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Learn to Swim, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Open Swim, 1 to 7 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday
Open Swim, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
